4 Tips to Reduce Belly Fat

The good news is there are ways to avoid or get rid of belly fat at any age:
De-stress daily: “Stress releases the fight-or-flight hormone, cortisol, which links to increased belly fat,” says Linda Melone, founder of AgelessAfter50.com. “By taking time to meditate, walk in nature or even simply practice deep breathing each day you can train yourself to handle stress more efficiently and, therefore, lower your body’s stress response.”
Check hormones: “Have your hormone levels checked – especially insulin, cortisol, thyroid and testosterone – those most closely related to fat metabolism and storage,” says Dee Pitcock, Certified Personal Trainer.
Exercise regularly: “Both strength training and cardiovascular exercise work on belly fat,” Melone says. “Strength train two to three times a week and do cardio 30 minutes on most days of the week. This may be broken up into three, 10-minute exercise bouts.”
Up your protein: “Up your protein and choose polyunsaturated fats, found in nuts, seeds and fish, over saturated fats found in meats and palm oil,” Melone says. “Both dietary approaches can help reduce belly fat.”
