Don’t Brush Off a Trip to the Dentist!

Taking care of your teeth is a crucial, but sometimes overlooked part of keeping yourself healthy. That’s why it’s essential that parents take their children to a pediatric dentist as soon as the first tooth appears, or they turn one-year-old. Having children become familiar with a healthy oral care routine early in life will help instill a solid regimen of properly caring for their smiles. Your teeth (and gums) are often the first thing someone will notice when you speak with them. Taking care of your oral health can help combat many destructive oral diseases and help keep your smile as beautiful as possible.
Sometimes children are afraid to visit the dentist office – unfamiliar environment, sounds, and people – can cause anxiety or dental phobia. At Brazos Valley Pediatric Dentistry, their staff creates a safe, fun, and comfortable atmosphere for every one of their patients.
Drs. Sukkawala, Kalke, Barras, and Case and their team pride themselves on offering the highest level of pediatric dental care in the most relaxing and fun environment. This is why they have been voted “Best of the Brazos Valley” for 9 years in a row. Check out our webpage and Facebook!

FAQ ABOUT YOUR TEETH:
How is a pediatric dentist different from my general dentist?
A pediatric dentist has an extra 2 years of specialized training after dental school and is dedicated to your child’s oral health from infancy to their teenage years.
How old should my child be to come into the pediatric dentist?
Our dentists recommend seeing children 12 months of age or at least 6 months after the eruption of the first tooth.
Baby teeth not only help wih proper chewing and eating for children, they also provide space for permanent teeth to grow in and permit normal development of the jaw bones and muscles.
When should my child brush his/her teeth?
We recommend toothbrushing twice a day. Once after breakfast in the morning and then at night right before bedtime. Also, remember NO MILK, JUICE, OR FOOD after toothbrushing at night.
