WEDDING DATE: NOVEMBER 11, 2017 | MALLORY PFEIFER
Tip #1 | Cherish Your Engagement
- My advice to newly engaged women would be to truly cherish your engagement. Whether it’s two months or two years, take the time to enjoy this stage of life. Inevitably, there will be times things don’t go according to plan, however, learn to roll with it. It’s okay to be sad, mad, or annoyed, but don’t settle into those emotions. Accept it and move on. The most important end goal of your engagement is to get married. As long as that happens, you’re good!
Tip #2 | Stay Organized
- During your engagement, it’s also important to stay organized. Regardless of if you’re a “type a” or “type b” person, organization will save you a lot of time and money. My husband and I started a binder with all our correspondence, contracts, and notes from our vendors. We used this to create a calendar with all our important dates, such as when payments were due to our vendors. I even went as far as setting reminders on my phone to ensure we didn’t forget anything.
Tip #3 | Stay True to Your Vision
- My last piece of advice would be to stay true to the vision you and your fiancé have for your wedding. Ultimately, there will be situations in which family and friends will suggest or “push” certain ideas. Accept them all with an open mind, but if someone else’s idea doesn’t match your vision, kindly decline. Although a cliché saying, this is your day. You only get one shot at having your wedding with your significant other, so make sure that when all the confetti settles and the open bar is closed, you’re happy with how your wedding day went. Dream it. Plan it. Love it. You and your fiancé will set the mood for your wedding. If you’re not having a good time, your guests won’t either. Cherish what is sure to be one of the most magical days of your life!
