Unlimited Potential of the Brazos Valley Awarded $160,000 Mabee Foundation Challenge Grant to Support Transitional Living for Former Foster Youth
Unlimited Potential of the Brazos Valley (UPBV) is proud to announce that it has received a $160,000 Challenge Grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation to support its new Transitional Living Program for former foster youth.
This generous grant will help UPBV complete fundraising for the construction of its Transitional Living Center, a safe and supportive housing community that will provide stability and life-skills training to young adults aging out of foster care. The program aims to empower these individuals to build independent, successful lives.
“We are deeply honored by the Mabee Foundation’s partnership in helping us bridge the gap for young adults transitioning out of foster care,” said Amanda Cross, Executive Director of Unlimited Potential of the Brazos Valley. “This challenge grant inspires our community to come together to make this program a reality and provide opportunities for youth who deserve stability and hope.”
With the Mabee Foundation’s Challenge Grant, UPBV had to raise the remaining funds needed to meet the challenge goal by July 7, 2026. With the generous support of the community and in-kind donations of local contractors, UPBV reached that goal in late November. The Mabee Foundation’s $160,000 contribution has been funded, bringing the vision of a fully functional Transitional Living Center to reality.
The Transitional Living Program will offer up to two years of housing along with mentorship, career readiness, financial literacy, counseling, and educational support. The facility is anticipated to serve 10 young adults annually, providing them with the tools to achieve long-term self-sufficiency and community connection.
