The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a yearlong celebration of excellence culminating in a formal gala Apr. 25, 2020.
Events include a series of lectures from former students beginning Sept. 18, a football tailgate for all former students and friends on Nov. 2 and a moderated panel discussion with former deans and college leadership in the spring.
The celebration will conclude with the college’s annual Dean’s Roundtable event in which benefactors of the college will honor those that have made a transformational impact on the lives of others. The 2020 event will recognize 50 transformational leaders and include a formal gala with a keynote speaker to be announced at a later date.
“This is an exciting year as we look back on the impacts of our college and look forward to how we will continue to transform lives around the world,” said Joyce Alexander. “It is our hope that former and current students, faculty and staff will help celebrate this truly momentous occasion.”
As part of the celebration, the college is challenging our former students to give back so our future students can receive cutting-edge training critical to solving the challenges of our time.
When you make a donation as part of the 50 for 50 challenge, your gift will help fund scholarships, graduate fellowships and general student support. You can participate by donating $50 or more and challenge your fellow former students. We will keep a tally and announce the winning decade at our 50th Anniversary Gala on Apr. 25, 2020.
To participate, visit give.am/CEHD50for50 or bring cash or check to our Former Students and Friends Tailgate on Nov. 2, 2019.
Are you a former student of the College of Education and Human Development? We want to hear about your memories from your time at Texas A&M. These memories will be collected and shared throughout the year. You can submit your memories at tx.ag/50memories.
Additional anniversary celebration events will be announced as details become available on tx.ag/cehdturns50.
The College of Education and Human Development opened its doors under the direction of Dr. Frank W.R. Hubert on September 1, 1969. The following decades saw the development of a strong, cohesive college through the recruitment of faculty from major research universities across the nation and by building quality programs.
The college is now home to four departments: Educational Psychology, Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, Health and Kinesiology, and Teaching, Learning and Culture. We are committed to excellence in preparation of leaders in the fields of education, health, business and sport. With nationally-recognized faculty experts, staff and students, the college maintains its standing as a leader among its peers.
