Q&A with Lake Walk Town Center
Questions by Hannah Holbrook | Answers by Natalie Rosser
“Visit Lake Walk to breathe easy, touch the sky, savor the moment, catch a tune and see the stars – all in one day.”
Q: The first time I went out to the Lake Walk, I couldn’t believe that I was still in Bryan/College Station. Where did this concept come from, and why was it brought to the Brazos Valley?
A: Lake Walk was created by Traditions Acquisition Partnership, the same company that acquired Traditions Club and Community almost ten years ago. A partnership with the city of Bryan, our community is approximately 1,000 acres in both cities and is surrounded by Texas A&M on three sides. Our goal is to create a world-class master planned community, one that will help attract and retain talented individuals to live and work here for best in class companies. That requires great design, which in our case came from Nelsen Partners of Austin. They delivered our master plan for office, retail, and restaurants, all anchored by The Stella Hotel, the region’s only AAA four diamond property. Nelsen Partners also designed our award winning pavilion and an iconic observation tower that serves as our central sculptural element. We knew that great places give people reason to be there at all times of the day and night, so our team went to work creating the vision of engaging your senses at Lake Walk.
Q: The Lake Walk is becoming a local hub for fitness, shopping, live music and entertainment, dining, and nightlife. Can you name some of the ways that Lake Walk cultivates this atmosphere?
A: Lake Walk Town Center has done a good job of creating events and experiences for the community to take part in. A lot of our programming is free and open to the public. We try and be creative and logical about our programming and think of events that will attract all ages. We spend months in advance planning out our calendar and love to hear feedback from the community. Our goal as a marketing and events team is to do a few events but do them to our fullest ability! We focus on branding each event and what experience our audience will gain from attending.
“Lake Walk celebrates music, art, nature and design, fashioning a place where experiences are guided by our senses and memories aren’t just made, they are crafted.”
Q: We’ve all been enjoying the local markets, the community events, and the beautiful environment that surrounds the Lake Walk Town Center. What’s coming next? What can residents look forward to in 2019?
A: We have big plans for Lake Walk! Phase one is complete and included The Stella, our first retail building, The Lookout Tower, 5acre Lake Atlas and open- air pavilion. We are currently planning phase two and can’t wait to share what our plans are with the community. Lake Walk is a thoughtfully created development that takes time to find the right feel and partners. We are always looking for restaurants, retailers and office tenants who want to be a part of what we are doing!
