Create Lasting Memories With An Overnight Family Campout At Lick Creek Park In The Dark
Picture this: a crisp evening under the stars, the smell of sizzling hot dogs, the sweet taste of gooey s’mores, fun educational activities and games, and the thrill of a night hike, all just minutes from home.
Lick Creek Park in the Dark brings families and friends together for memorable overnight campouts at Gary Halter Nature Center on Friday, Nov. 14. Each camp begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m. the following day.
Participants can escape city lights and take in breathtaking nighttime views in the city’s premier nature park while learning camping basics and discovering the nocturnal creatures that call Lick Creek Park home. Campers can choose their adventure or stick with favorites such as hot dog dinners, nature presentations, s’mores and guided night hikes.
Schedule of Events
- 6 p.m. – Check-in and campsite set-up and special nature presentations, activities, s’mores and games start
- 7 p.m. – Hot dog dinner and s’mores begin
- 7:30 p.m. – Night hikes begin
- 9 p.m. – Special nature presentations and night hikes end
- 9:45 p.m. – Activities, s’mores and games end
- 10 p.m. – Quiet hours begin
The cost is $8 per person, and children 3 and younger are free. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.
Registration closes on the Wednesday before each camp. Spots are limited, so register early.
Campers should bring a tent, supplies, snacks and drinks. Sleeping bags, flashlights, a tent lantern, bug spray and folding chairs are recommended. Electricity will not be available, so bring extra batteries.
