Fall Sports Leagues And Programs Offer Kids
And Adults Easy Ways To Get Physically Active

Are you looking for opportunities to become physically active for you and your family? Fall is an ideal time to try a new sport or reengage with a former passion.
The City of College Station offers a variety of recreational opportunities for kids and adults. Sports participation is a fantastic way for kids to grow confidence, express themselves, and instill healthy physical and mental habits. For adults, it’s a way to fulfill their competitive desires and meet new people.
Our fall sports line-up appeals to all athletes regardless of skill level – and you don’t even have to live in College Station. You can register online, by phone at 979.764.3486, or stop by our Central Park office at 1000 Krenek Tap Road.
Youth Programs (17 and Under)
7-on-7 Football (Sept. 7-Nov.16) – Register by Aug. 28
Non-contact 7-on-7 Football for ages 6-12 provides a fun and exciting opportunity for continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. Players are placed on teams and gain experience on offense and defense. To apply as a volunteer coach, go to cstx.gov/sportsvolunteer. Volunteers must complete a background check.
FUNdamental Field Hockey (Aug. 31-Oct. 5) – Register by Aug. 31
FUNdamental Field Hockey introduces participants ages 5-8 to the game by engaging them in core concepts, rules, skills, and strategy. The six-week program is taught by a former college player with coaching experience at the high school and college levels.
High-Performance Tennis Academy (Sept. 18-Oct. 23) – Register by Sept. 18
The academy is for competitive athletes ages 12-18 playing high school varsity matches or Level 1-5 USTA tournaments in Texas. The program enhances technical, strategic, and physical capabilities through live-ball drills, match play, and conditioning. The academy is overseen by a USPTA professional.
Junior Beginner Tennis (Sept. 19-Oct. 27) – Register by Sept. 22
The program is a fun introduction to tennis for kids ages 5-16. Beginners learn the basics of the forehand, backhand, serve, and volley in a fast-paced, interactive environment. The final session is a game night with a chance to win prizes.
Junior Intermediate Tennis (Sept. 22-Oct. 27) – Register by Sept. 22
The program is for players ages 9-16 with previous instruction on basic strokes by a tennis professional. Players focus on static and live-ball drills for singles and doubles play. The last session is a game night with a chance to win prizes.
Winter Basketball (Nov. 28-March 8) – Register by Nov. 27
Participants ages 6-14 will learn the basic skills of basketball, teamwork, and training for the next level. Players receive jerseys and are drafted to teams after a pre-draft workout. To apply as a volunteer coach, go to cstx.gov/sportsvolunteer. Volunteers must complete a background check.
Adult Programs (Ages 18+)
Softball League (Sept. 6-Nov. 17) – Register by Aug. 28
Coed teams consist of at least four women and six men with a maximum roster of 20 players.
Kickball League (Sept. 7-Nov. 16) – Register by Aug. 28
Teams consist of 10-20 players with a minimum roster of four women and six men. The league uses an 8½-inch kickball.
Volleyball League (Sept. 6-Nov. 17) – Register by Aug. 28
Coed divisions with no more than three men or four women can be on the court per team.
Ultimate Frisbee (Sept. 13-Nov. 15) – Register by Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.
BCS Ultimate runs the coed league, and individual or team registration is available. Team rosters may include up to 12 players. Teams field seven players at a time with five men and two women.
Competitive Drill Tennis (Sept. 18-Oct. 23) – Register by Sept. 18
Designed for players with previous instruction by a tennis professional on basic strokes and are interested in playing in tournaments or leagues. Each stroke is covered in fun live-ball drills and match play. In addition, strategy and on-court tactics are discussed and integrated into the drills.
Beginner Tennis (Sept. 18-Oct. 25) – Register by Sept. 20
A fun, active introduction to the game. Players learn basic strokes, scoring, and strategy. Participants also engage in fun games to increase their enjoyment.
Round-Robin Tennis League (Sept. 20-Oct. 25) – Register by Sept. 20
The league is designed for adults comfortable with match play and interested in competing in a lively social setting. Players are guaranteed a doubles set (six-game, no-ad scoring) and a single set (six-game, no-ad scoring) each week in a round-robin format, giving competitors a chance to face new opponents constantly.
Intermediate Tennis (Sept 21.-Oct. 26) – Register by Sept. 21
The program is for players with previous instruction on basic strokes by a tennis professional. Players focus on static and live-ball drills for singles and doubles play, emphasizing point simulation, strategy, and fundamentals for increased consistency.
All Ages Welcome
Jingle Bell Fun Run (Dec. 2) – Register by Nov. 13
A one-mile, untimed fun run through the lights to kick off Christmas in the Park event weekend. Part of the run is on an unpaved surface.
