College Station’s 85th Birthday Bash
On Oct. 18 – A Night To Remember!
Information courtesy of | City of College Station
Did you know citizens voted 217-39 to incorporate the City of College Station on Oct. 19, 1938? That’s when it all began!
Get your party hats ready because our community is about to turn 85, and we’re throwing a free anniversary celebration like no other on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at College Station City Hall.
Here’s how we’re celebrating – and how you can get involved:
Unveiling History
We’re rolling out a new permanent history wall with a detailed timeline of events and people that shaped College Station. In addition, we’ll display historic treasures loaned by generous community members.
We’re looking for artifacts that tell the story of our city’s journey – the moments, people, and culture that define College Station. Do you have something you’d like to share? Remember, it should be no larger than 58 inches long x 19 inches tall x 27 inches deep. We’ll return your item in January.
For details and to schedule your artifact drop-off, call 979.764.2520. Don’t forget to complete the loan form and bring it with you.
Sweet Treats and Prizes
What’s a birthday party without cake? We’ve covered that and will also have mouthwatering food trucks and exciting raffle prizes. Picture this: $85 gift card giveaways from fantastic businesses such as Aggieland Outfitters, Casa Mangiare, The Rooftop (the new hotspot at College Station Hilton), and Sabi Boutique.
Scavenger Hunt
If you’re up for a challenge, our scavenger hunt is for you. It starts with the birthday party and ends on Nov. 3. Here’s the kicker: even if you can’t make it to the birthday bash, you can swing by city hall afterward to grab a booklet of clues. Return it before the hunt concludes, and you could win a prize – and be in the running for one of those sweet $85 gift cards.
Let’s make our 85th birthday a celebration to remember!
