TWO Ingredient Chocolate Cherry Breakfast Smoothie
Recipe by Lizzie West
You’re running late, need breakfast – you need it fast and portable. I’ve got a quick, easy, and tasty breakfast smoothie that isn’t overly sugary but still sweet enough to feel like a treat. It only takes 5 minutes. And, you can substitute the another fruit for the cherries. Strawberries, bananas, or another kind of berry are also delicious options – the only limitation is that the fruit must be frozen. I also use Mootopia from HEB, because it is lactose-free and reduced sugar, but any kind of chocolate milk would be a suitable substitute. Experiment with almond, cashew, rice, or Promise Land if you want a very rich smoothie.
Ingredients
Mootopia – chocolate flavor from HEB
Frozen dark sweet cherries
Vanilla extract (optional – intensifies the chocolate flavor)
Step 1 – Locate and plug in your blender or smoothie maker. I have a Ninja smoothie blender with an “ultra blend” option and suction cups on the bottom, so I can set it and let it blend while I take care of packing lunch or filling water bottles.
Step 2 – Pour in your desired amount of frozen fruit (in this case, dark sweet cherries – great source of antioxidants)
Step 3 – Pour your Mootopia over the cherries until it is just barely below the top of the cherries. (you can always add more if needed to get your desired consistency)
Step 4 – Blend until smooth and put into your favorite travel cup with a reusable straw. Rinsing your blender pitcher or cup before you leave will save cleaning time later.
Head out for the day and enjoy a smooth, delicious, and quick breakfast!
