Brazos Valley Gives Announces Final Giving Totals, Over $389, 000 for Local Charities Raised
Just last night, the Community Foundation and Bush School of Government and Public Service hosted a celebration for community members involved in October’s Brazos Valley Gives event. The evening was filled with many surprises and some jaw-dropping numbers.
While October’s event raised more than $295,000, nearly $100,000 of post-campaign grants and donations came in bringing the grand total to $389,080.32. That’s over $389,000 going directly to local nonprofits here in the Brazos Valley! Wow, Brazos Valley, give yourselves a pat on the back. For a full listing of the 103 participating non-profits and the giving totals, check out this link.
It was amazing to watch the whole Brazos Valley come together to support “giving local”. Bryan Broadcasting’s Candy 95 rallied to the cause with an all-day radiothon to bring the radio listeners of the Brazos Valley on board. Over the course of 16 hours, Candy 95 interviewed all 103 charities involved in Brazos Valley Gives on the air. Each charity was given a segment of air time to bring awareness to their causes and drive people to donate. This was one powerful demonstration of local media’s ability to reach local people.
President of the Community Foundation, Patricia Gerling, says, “It was all thanks to the generosity and giving hearts of donors and businesses here in the community. We hope that everyone will be back next year. We hope to grow our nonprofit numbers. This year we had 103 nonprofits, and as long as you’re a 501 C3 nonprofit in good standing, we would love to have you. It’s going to be an annual affair on the 4th Tuesday of October.”
Shout-out to everyone who volunteered, donated, and spread the word about this amazing local day of giving. As residents of the Brazos Valley, we know that our region is one of a kind in its dedication to supporting its fellow man.
