Lick Creek Park in the Dark

If you think you have to travel a few hours for a memorable campout with your family, think again. You can enjoy stargazing, storytelling, night hikes — and, of course, hot dogs and s’mores — in College Station’s beautiful Lick Creek Park.
The 523-acre property is the crown jewel of our park system and is the ideal spot for an easy-to-access outdoor adventure for your family. Join us at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, or Friday, Oct. 22, for Lick Creek Park in the Dark, a classic overnight experience at our area’s premier nature preserve.

We’ll teach you camping basics, but you need to bring a tent, supplies, snacks, and drinks. It’s also a good idea to pack sleeping bags, flashlights, a tent lantern, bug spray, and folding chairs. Electricity won’t be available, so bring extra batteries, too.

The cost is $8 per person, and registration ends the Thursday before each camp. Kids three years old and younger are free, children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18, and pets and alcohol aren’t allowed.
