Ryan and I have a ton of mutual friends. The closest being my brother in law, Blake. Ryan and he were best friends, and I officially met Ryan after my sister, Morgan, and Blake’s wedding. We had both known of each other for years, but it wasn’t until after their wedding that we had a real conversation at a New Year’s Eve party. We stood around the fire and talked for hours telling each other what we would be doing differently in 2014. Little did we know that we’d be getting married seven months later. Ryan and I both knew right away that this was the real deal. On the day Ryan proposed, we were driving home from a friend’s graduation in San Marcos. I didn’t notice that we missed our exit. Somewhere along the drive Ryan asked me to grab a special notebook I gave him when we first started dating. Ryan is a very talented artist, so when I gave it to him I figured he’d use it as a sketchbook. I opened it, thinking he wanted to show me something he’d drawn. To my surprise, the book proceeded to be a collection of letters that he’d written the entire time we were dating, citing references to special moments in our relationship and in his confirmation of wanting to marry me. The notebook was the guide for the rest of the night. In between reading the letters, there were directions on where to tell him to drive. He basically recreated our first date to Galveston. We had dinner, played mini golf, and went on a bike ride. Before the bike ride, he had me read the entry from the day where he asked my father if he could marry me. The bike ride took us to Bishops Palace on Main Street, and my sister was hiding out snapping pictures when he proposed. When we arrived home, family and friends were waiting to celebrate! When the day finally arrived – it was perfect! The Jefferson Theatre was so extravagant and grand that we barely needed to decorate at all. The atmosphere of the venue really made the entire day fun. The girls got ready in a dressing room with big vintage bulbs, and I even had to walk under the theatre in a tunnel to get to the lobby! The dance floor had a wrap-around balcony above it and Ryan and I got to put our names on the marquee. The best part for Ryan and I, was getting to declare that our lives would be used as one to bless the Lord, Jesus Christ; and seeing all our family and friends come out and support our relationship.
