The Arts Council of Brazos Valley (ACBV) hosts the Body X Landscape July 29th, 2021 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.. Their newest Main Gallery exhibit is the culmination of College Station Artist in Residence Trevor Coopersmith’s time with the program. It will be open from July 20th to August 12th, 2021.
Body X Landscape explores the juxtapositions between humanity and the natural world. The gallery will include an interactive piece that is sure to be fun for the whole family! This piece, entitled Celestial Navigations, invites the viewer to be part of the experience.
When asked why he wanted to create an interactive experience, Trevor said he was “inspired by a student on the autism spectrum, this interactive piece was created in hopes to explore the most intuitive and youthful parts of ourselves. Drawing with chalk is primarily a childhood experience, but how often are we given the opportunity to scribble carelessly as we enter adulthood? In order to find answers to the complex questions of existence and everyday life, [I want people to consider themselves] a part of the piece.”
Trevor Coopersmith is the founder of the Urban Art Scholarship Foundation and holds a Bachelors in Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Coopersmith was recently accepted to the University of London Goldsmiths MFA program but has withdrawn to pursue his artistic career elsewhere. Trevor has exhibited internationally, online and is a current artist in residence in College Station, Texas.

The Arts Council hosts an Artist in Residence program in College Station during the summer months. This program allows the artist to spend the summer working on projects, adding to their portfolio, and preparing for a solo exhibit at the Arts & Visitor Center Gallery.
