StageCenter Community Theatre is proud to present Exit Laughing, a hilarious and heartwarming play by Paul Elliott. Presented under the direction of Robin Sutton and underwritten by Cynthia C. Christner, performances run September 25 through October 11 at the StageCenter Theatre.
About the Play
When your weekly bridge night is the highlight of life for decades, what happens when one of your foursome suddenly passes away? For Connie, Leona, and Millie—three Southern ladies from Birmingham—the loss is more than emotional: it’s inconvenient. In a bold act of friendship (and comic desperation), these women “borrow” the ashes from the funeral home to complete one more card game together. Expect laughter, heart, and unexpected warmth in this dramatic comedy.

Why See Exit Laughing
This show is a celebration of friendship, grief, and the absurd lengths we’ll go to hold onto what matters. It’s both poignant and funny, offering audiences a chance to laugh—and perhaps think—about how we cope with loss, how we celebrate routine, and how we keep love alive long after someone is gone.
