It’s crazy to think that the person you are going to spend your life with was right in front of you the whole time. Reese and I met working at Messina Hof Winery & Resort as retail associates. After a few shifts working together we realized our love for wine and Wings n More were just a few things we had in common. We soon figured out that we attended the same High School together here in College Station and had a few mutual friends but never actually crossed paths. When I saw Reese, I knew he was the one. He’s a very kind hearted and motivated person that has truly showed me what real love is about.
Reese proposed to me after only dating for 10 months and just 3 months before his deployment to Afghanistan. He proposed to me at Bernhardt Winery with both of our parents there to watch. Although we lived together, I had no idea he had even bought a ring. He was so sneaky about it, and even used my Pinterest to design it!
When Reese deployed, my mom and I got straight to work planning our wedding. I was born and raised in College Station, so it was set we were going to share our hometown with our guests. Our engagement was twenty long months, but that gave us plenty of time to find my favorite vendors. I actually changed my mind several times on the theme but ultimately fell in love with a light pink shabby chic look for the reception. My mom and I love to restore and paint furniture, so we were able to incorporate a few of our pieces which was neat. My older sister, Nicole, got married only five months before me so planning two wedding was a real challenge for my parents!
The wedding day turned out to be a sunny September day. The whole day was centered around the love Reese and I share for each other and the distance we went through during Reese’s deployment. I surprised Reese by compiling a video of photos and videos we exchanged during his 10 month deployment and played it right before I walked down the aisle. I’m pretty sure the entire church was in tears, but it was really important that they were able to experience that moment with us. After the ceremony at Christ United Methodist Church, the guests followed the wedding party out to Moore Ranch for a country inspired reception. Along with the Texas Twisters Band, the group danced the night away. My favorite moment was when the band played “Shout” to end the night, and our entire group was on the dance floor. Our favorite restaurant, Napa Flats, served dinner with our favorite drink, Sangria. It was a perfect day and a great way to start our new lives together! Reese truly is my hero, my best friend, and now my husband, and the day couldn’t have been any better!”
