– Our Story –
Scott is a Texan, born and bred. I’m a Kansan, born and bred. So you can bet that someone pretty amazing was watching over us to make sure we met. When I moved to Texas, I found my way to the Catalena Cowgirls tryouts at the Catalena ranch in Kurten, TX. And who do you think was digging through the fridge during the meeting? None other than Scotty-too-hotty.
Don’t let him lie to you – he wasn’t just hungry… he stalked my application and photo and conveniently “showed up” during tryouts. So while I’m diligently concentrating on the requirements and expectations of the Catalena Cowgirls – smooth criminal was over there scoping me out like a hunter poised for the kill. (Just between us – I may have been checking him out too.)
The way he tells the story now, we nearly missed out on this beautiful relationship because my hat was sooooo atrocious. Heaven forbid, this hayseed of a girl from Kansas didn’t have a fancy, custom hat like the ones he makes at Catalena Hatters. But, phew! He graciously overlooked my abhorrent head wear and gave me a chance.
The more time Scott and I spent together, the more we knew we had found the one we were meant to find.
After 4 years of dating, we got up early on Christmas morning 2014, which was our very first Christmas living together. We both opened our gifts and I was extremely excited to get just what I wanted…. a promise that we could adopt a dog!!!
Not where you thought this story was going, right? Well, hold on, I’m getting there. So I was excited but Scott seemed disappointed with the leather bag I’d gotten him. He said he didn’t get what he wanted. So I’m thinking, oh no, I must be the worst gift-giver ever. And then he said, “What I wanted was for you to marry me.” Out of his pocket comes a gorgeous diamond engagement ring. And at some point after laughing and crying together, I managed to mutter “yes, of course,” and we married on Aug. 29, 2015.
The wedding was gorgeous and everything that we could have wanted. Rock Lake Ranch is picturesque with the rolling green areas, a serene lake and rustic architecture. It was hot in August, but on this particular night, a cool breeze swept through the ceremony, and the sun set as we finished our photos.
Ray, Cloe and others from Ray Eric Photography took photos and videos as everyone danced – the evening really flew by, so we are so happy to have those memories saved. And they did such an incredible job!
One compliment we are pretty proud of is that we’ve heard from so many of our guests – the food was delicious! City View Catering, out of Houston, provided the meal, bar service and ice cream desserts for us.
We couldn’t be happier with our vendors. They were all so incredibly helpful and super easy to work with. It was an amazing day!
