Rob and I met in Colorado on a mission trip in 2004. He lived in Illinois and I lived in Texas, but somehow we became best friends. Four years later my parents flew Rob down to surprise me for my high school graduation and he took me on a date. After two and a half years of dating long distance, Rob moved to Texas to pursue his masters at Texas A&M.
February 28, 2012 Rob asked me to marry him while a photographer hid and captured the entire thing. After he proposed, we went to my parents’ house where there was a huge surprise party waiting for us.
New Year’s Eve has always been special to us so we figured that would be the perfect day to get married. Our ceremony was incredibly special and unique. Both of our fathers and our college pastor married us, our mentors and families prayed over us, and we wrote our own vows. Our reception was a giant celebration. We had breakfast for dinner- pancakes, breakfast tacos, and even a doughnut cake for Rob. There was a TON of dancing, champagne toasts at midnight, confetti cannons, party hats, noise makers, and a lot more. We loved everything about our wedding, but the best part was being with our closest family and friends. At the end of the day, our wedding was perfect because it meant I got to start a marriage with the love of my life. The rest was just a bonus!
