Mary Ann, met John when she was a freshman at Texas A&M Fish Camp and John was her counselor. For their first date, John cooked dinner for Mary Ann and then took her to Midnight Yell. The first time that John told Mary Ann that he loved her, she was giving him a hair cut. She was using electric clippers and the guard fell off. Mary Ann accidentally cut a huge chunk out of his hair. After she began crying her eyes out, John said “It’s okay, I still love you!” Needless to say, that dried her tears up pretty fast.
In December of 2012, Mary Ann was going to San Antonio with her family to celebrate Christmas. Little did she know that John had planned to propose. Her family was going to eat at the country club and as she walked in, there was a sign with her name on it. Mary Ann followed the sign and many other signs that John had set up with important dates from their relationship on them. At the end he was waiting with a bouquet of yellow roses and he got down on one knee, of course she said yes!
They got married on January 4, 2014 in the same church as her grandparents, parents, aunt, and sister. John’s uncle and one of the priests from my parents’ and sister’s wedding married them. They were able to celebrate our special day with 220 of our family and friends.
