Listening Rooms
Has Launched in Bryan, Texas
Information provided by Listening Rooms
It is with great excitement to inform you that an incredible opportunity has started in the Brazos Valley called the “Listening Rooms.”
The Listening Rooms, sponsored by the Art of War in downtown Bryan, and founded by Troy Shepherd and Dr. Heidi Campbell, is an experiment that creates a space to facilitate social interactions in a physical and emotionally safe space. Chris Lawrence, the owner of Art of War, has graciously provided space in his bar (which is closed indefinitely due to Covid-19 implications) to facilitate this grass-roots initiative.
In the local Bryan community, there are many resources to help people address issues such as lack of food, shelter, other physical needs, as well as mental health counseling, but no direct initiatives aimed at addressing peoples loneliness or need for human interaction, especially during the season of COVID-19.
Listening Rooms is a social engagement project that aims to help those who may be struggling with isolation and loneliness during these uncertain times. It provides a place for them to be heard and to be helped, cared for, and encouraged by others in the community.
This initiative is not associated with any business or organization, but simply an idea to offer help to those in need while encouraging hope and providing a listening ear.
We have attached a poster with more details, as well as links in the signature line to our social media pages.
We’d be glad to answer any questions you may have about this experiment, and look forward to your response.
Thank you for your consideration.
