– Our Story –
Geronimo and I met the summer before our freshmen year of high school at a Bryan little league game. His humor instantly attracted me to him and we began dating later into our freshmen year; we were high school sweethearts.
In 2010, our son, Adrian Longoria, was born and in 2012 our daughter, Atiana, was brought into the world. The summer of 2013 we were blessed to build a home for our family and were able to make in just in time for Christmas. However, some thing was missing from our almost complete puzzle.
On Valentine’s Day of 2014, Geronimo surprised me by saying he made plans for us that evening and I needed to get dressed up for a something special. After 9 years of being in a relationship and 2 children, Valentine’s Day became less romantic so I was very surprised to hear he made plans for just the two of us. I also never expected any kind of proposal on that day because in all the years we thought about how our engagement would go, Geronimo always said it was so cheesy to propose on Valentine’s Day. Little did I know, five days before he had stopped by Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry and purchased a ring so he had an itch in his pocket and a surprise he couldn’t keep to himself any longer!
When evening came, we dropped the kids off at my sister’s house (who secretly had our cousins hiding upstairs ready to watch our kids as my sister left to be a part of the proposal), and he drove me to The Republic which I had yet to try and I was so excited! But then he told me to wait in the car, I then began to grow suspicious that he might be popping the question here! However, after impatiently waiting for 10 minutes, I was starting to become very hungry and irritable! When he came back to the car he tells me he left his wallet at home and our reservations were pushed back for another hour. I realized a proposal was not going to happen and told myself to keep it together for another hour! We arrive back home and he asks me to get out and help him look for his wallet (the last thing I wanted to do) but I agree. I open the door to find our living room lit up with only candle light and Geronimo on one knee in the home we had always dreamed of and made to live. Both our families came out from hiding to celebrate with us! It was perfect. He was always secretly listening when I would tell him how much I would love our families to be there to share that special moment with us.
Our wedding day was every thing we always dreamed of during those nine years together. We chose to celebrate on New Year’s Eve because it would signify a new chapter between the two of us. We would be wed in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church where I was confirmed in my faith and our children were baptized. We would continue to celebrate at the Hilton hotel with 300 of our closest friends and big Mexican families! The more recent movie of The Great Gatsby played a big role in what we wanted for our wedding. The fantastic custom Environmental Project made by RDM that included the Gastby design that included my new last name in the middle moved all over the walls all night. For the first half of the night our guests would be able to enjoy a fun photo booth with the photos uploading as a live feed on Facebook so that guests who were unable to make it could still feel apart of the night! It then transitioned into a Slo-Mo booth for our guests to create fun videos that made quite an entertaining keepsake for us!
Ashley & Co. provided beautiful gold linens for the tables and a beautiful gold sequin linen for our sweetheart table and cake table! White floral arrangements and candles would light up each table making the room feel royal. Sandee from Sandee’s Sweets designed a beautiful, non-traditional black and gold cake for both the groom and I that played a focal point at our reception. It was absolutely stunning! The Hilton served perfectly cooked steak and mashed potatoes with asparagus for our guests. My bridesmaid, Caitlyn William’s beautifully sang Oceans by Hillsong United for dinner entertainment. My groom and I danced to Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey. Garza Photo + Design took breath-taking photos of our day and we could not have asked for more caring, brilliant people like Tamara and Alex to capture our day. At the count down for midnight, RDM Pros put together a special Environmental Project of a drive up to the “Gatsby mansion” and fireworks went off behind the mansion at the stroke of midnight that lit up the ballroom! It was a great night for our non-traditional love story!
