Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra™ is excited to announce the Dallas String Quartet will be joining Music Director Marcelo Bussiki on stage at the Brazos County Expo Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 5:00 pm for an energetic concert, perfect for the whole family. The BVSO is proud to partner with CHI St. Joseph Health as the official sponsor for the 2020-2021 Season and are truly grateful to our concert sponsor, The Eugene Edge, III Charitable Trust.
Affectionately called DSQ by their fans, the ensemble began in 2007 by violist Ion Zanca, and has been referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi.” A fusion of contemporary classical and pop music, DSQ uses both traditional and electric strings, performing as an intimate quartet, or with the drums and guitar as well as accompanied by an orchestra. They are known for their eclectic renditions of anything from Guns N’ Roses ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ to Lady Gaga’s ‘Rain On Me.’
DSQ has performed for Presidents Obama and Bush, the College Football Playoffs, NBA, and NFL organizations. They’ve sold out concert venues like the House of Blues and symphony halls and have played alongside Josh Groban, Chicago, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Their music has been featured by ESPN, A&E, The Wall Street Journal and prominent Spotify playlists such as Pop Goes Classical and Sinfonía Hipster.
The first half of the evening will feature the BVSO performing Milhaud’s early jazz influenced La Création du monde and the highly charming Divertissement by Jacques Ibert.
