The BVSO Celebrates The Season
With Holiday Pops Concert!
Information provided by The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra
The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will help usher in the holiday season with its annual “Holiday Pops Concert” on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) beginning at 5 p.m. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki will conduct the Symphony’s Brass and Percussion sections with organist James Faith, the Christ United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir and The Canticle Ringers. This very popular concert has become a cherished holiday season tradition for many in the Brazos Valley. This program is made possible by the generous support of TekSys.
“In a year marked by so much sadness in our communities, when our patrons went away, and our instruments became silent, this holiday concert takes on a special meaning. We celebrate with music the gift and joy of a hopeful future. There can be no more soothing music to our souls than our traditional holiday tunes. It is in that spirit that we invite our community to share the sounds of this season with joy and happiness the old fashion way,” said Bussiki.
The concert has been tastefully programmed to include selections of cherished sacred music such as “O Holy Night” and “Joy to the World” along with time-honored holiday favorites “White Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Jingle Bells” just to name a few.
The health and safety of the audience has also shaped the concert programming. The BVSO™ will be working to make sure that every performance complies with all local, state and federal guidelines to ensure that appropriate health precautions are recognized and implemented for our patrons’ convenience, safety and enjoyment of our concerts including requiring the wearing of masks. If any patron is concerned in any way, it is recommended they not attend and instead take advantage of the VIA VIDEO ticket.
The VIA VIDEO ticket is available to those who may not wish to attend the concert in person. In approximately 3 to 4 days after the concert, patrons who have bought a VIA VIDEO ticket will receive a link in their email which enables them to watch the concert conveniently from their own home for one week.
The “Holiday Pops Concert” is separate from the regular Symphony subscription season. The Symphony strives to provide its community members with memorable musical experiences, and this annual event is just one of the ways it reaches out to make that vision become a reality.
Seating for the Holiday Pops Concert is limited. The BVSO™ advises patrons to purchase their tickets in advance of the performance. Tickets can be purchased in advance, adults $25 and children $10, in person at the MSC Box Office, located in the Rudder Tower lobby, by phone at (979) 845-1234, or online at http://boxoffice.tamu.edu. Tickets will also be on sale at the door the night of the concert ($30/adult, $10/child). The VIA VIDEO ticket is $35.
