Holiday Brunch Recipe:
Resurrection Rolls
Recipe + Photos by Lizzie West
There are many ways to make these resurrection rolls. You can exclude the butter or use cinnamon sugar as a topping if you’d like. Feel free to make adjustments to your dietary specifications. Making these rolls as a family has become an important tradition to my kids each year on Easter and it’s a great way to facilitate dialogue in your family about Jesus and his sacrifice for us. They are so easy and quick to make – it’s friendly for all ages and skill levels. Consider making these a part of your annual Easter tradition. They can also help us all remember the real reason or the holiday. And they taste WAY better than chocolate bunnies anyway!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 9-12 minutes
Total Time: 20-25 minutes
Servings: 4 (2 rolls each)
1 can crescent roll dough (8 rolls)
8 large marshmallows
4 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
–Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a large baking sheet with parchment paper or nonstick spray.
–Separate all 8 the crescent rolls and lay flat. Brush each piece of dough with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.
–Roll one large marshmallow into each crescent roll, sealing all the edges so nothing will seep out when baking. Place all the rolls onto a baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
–Brush each roll with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon to your liking.
–Bake the rolls until they are puffed up and golden brown, about 9-12 minutes (see the instructions on the tube of your crescent rolls).
-Allow the rolls to cool for a couple minutes as the melted marshmallow inside will be very hot. Serve rolls and open to reveal the symbol of the empty tomb!
Luke 24:1-12 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
