Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program administered through Texas Health & Human Services for babies and toddlers, birth to 36 months, who have developmental delays, medical diagnosis, disability or atypical behaviors. Our goal is to work with parents and caregivers in their everyday routines and natural environments where children learn best and we can support the needs of the entire family. Easter Seals Greater Houston is proud to include the Brazos Valley in its’ service area.
If there is concern about a baby’s development, especially after the course of this past year, ECI services are available for children birth to 36 months who are at risk for a delay. Anyone can refer a child for a developmental evaluation, including parents, caregivers, friends, doctors, and other community agencies. For referrals, please fill out the ECI referral form here and email it to our referral coordinator, Alicia Rivas, arivas@eastersealshouston.org; or call our referral line at 1-877-797-8999. Once a referral is received, the parents/caregivers are contacted to schedule a completely free in-home or virtual developmental evaluation.
Easter Seals Greater Houston’s ECI Program offers an array of services based on the child’s needs. Services are provided by licensed/certified providers, who have extensive experience, specialized in working with small children. Our services include Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Case Management, Nutrition, and training on all areas of development, specializing in cognitive and social skills; and are provided in a child’s natural environment, meaning wherever the child spends most of their day. That may be the child’s home, a caregiver’s home, or a daycare. These services help children with crucial development skills such as learning to rollover, walk, hold their own bottle, eat, speak, and more. Services are covered by CHIP, Medicaid, insurance or on a sliding scale.
