The Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial board of directors will host its annual Veterans Day Program at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Louis L. Adam Memorial Plaza of Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station, Texas.
Activities will commence with a rendition of the National Anthem and Texas Our Texas by The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. BVVM board member Bill Youngkin will follow with a traditional reading of names recently added to the memorial’s Wall of Honor. Today, there are more than 5,000 engraved names of military service men and women from the Brazos Valley.
Afterward, Ms. Karoni Forrester will provide the keynote address. Ms. Forrester is the daughter of Capt. Ron Forrester, a Texas A&M University graduate and 25-year-old Marine aviator shot down in Vietnam in 1972. Karoni often speaks on behalf of the National League of POW/MIA families, representing thousands of Texas families whose loved ones were killed or missing after the Vietnam War.
The Honorable William H. “Bill” Flores, U.S. Representative for Texas’s 17th congressional district will also present the 2014 Congressional Veteran Commendation. The TX-17 Congressional Veteran Commendation was created to honor the distinguished veterans of Texas’ 17th Congressional District and to preserve their stories for future generations of Americans. Performaces by the Texas A&M University Ross Volunteers and the Texas Aggie Band Bugler will follow.
