The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra™ is pleased to present the second performance of the 40th Anniversary Season “Wind Serenades” at the Rudder Theatre on November 14, 2021 beginning at 5 pm. St. Joseph Health has graciously partnered with the BVSO™ as the official sponsor of the 2021-2022 season.
“Wind Serenades” will be a unique classical concert experience. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki has programmed an evening spotlighting the woodwind section of the orchestra. All three concert pieces will feature flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons and French horns.
“This concert will be a kind of showcase for our BVSO musicians and a treat to the classical wind music lover because it has some of the best-known wind serenades ever composed. The Mozart serenade, also known as the “Gran Partita” is one of the composer’s most unique works for its unusual instrumentation,” said Bussiki.
The concert will begin with Strauss’ Serenade for Wind Instruments in E-flat major, Op. 7, a work that was modelled after Mozart’s “Gran Partita.”
“Another large work in the program is Dvořák’s Serenade for Wind Instruments which is another delightful piece of music. This impressive work highlights the richness of Czech music and Dvořák’s ability to effortlessly infuse Czech folk music into his personal style,” said Bussiki.
