The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History welcomes Nicole Dupré Mack, M.A., the new Curator of Exhibits and Collections, Friday, June 24, at 6:30 pm, during the opening reception for Checkered Past: The Story of Board Games.
The public is invited to meet Nicole and welcome her into the Museum community. The free evening event will begin with an entertaining presentation by Dr. Rebecca Ingram on board games, followed by wine and hors d’oeuvres, live music by the Scott Kunkle trio, and gallery viewing.
Nicole has a B. A. in Anthropology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a M.A. from the University of Kansas. Her studies primarily focused on collections management of fine art, historical, and anthropological collections.
In addition to working with multiple county historical societies in Kansas, she has also worked as a registrar for Exhibits USA where she had the opportunity to travel across the country to assist museums with the installation, deinstallation, and condition reporting of exhibits.
Enjoy meeting Nicole and exploring the surprising spiritual or political roots of some 20th-century favorite board games, or playing centuries-old classics like Checkers, Backgammon, or Chess.
This colorful and interactive exhibit features items from Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, Clockwork Games and Events in College Station, and many other individual lenders.
