We met on match.com on February 22, 2013, while both attending Texas A&M University. I “winked” at one of Rick’s pictures and he messaged me to start up a conversation. After talking all evening, Rick asked me out on our first date. The next day, he took me ice skating, where I completely embarrassed myself with my lack of ice skating skills. We (mostly me) ended up talking the whole time, and we went on a second date the very next day. Rick and I moved to Portland, Oregon, but we planned a trip back to Texas in October of 2014 to visit family and attend an A&M football game. I planned a whole day trip for my entire family to come down to College Station for the game and to take my nephew around campus (he’s a future Aggie). Little did I know, Rick had something up his sleeve (or should I say in his pocket) and my entire family knew about it! After the game, Jack (my nephew) asked me to give him a tour around campus, and this little tour of mine eventually led us to Academic Plaza and to the statue of Sullivan Ross. As I was telling Jack about “Sully”, Rick turned to me and asked if I wanted to walk under the Century Tree with him to take a picture. I agreed, and was SO EXCITED, knowing the tradition of the Century Tree and it being our first walk under it together. Right as we were about to take the picture, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I freaked out sobbing crying and said “yes!!” We then finished our first walk under the century tree together.
Our wedding was absolutely a dream come true. I never envisioned my wedding day, that is until I met Rick and knew he was the one. I then knew I wanted a rustic, chic, Fightin’ Texas Aggie wedding! The day of was relaxed, fun, and exciting! Rick and I really enjoyed spending time with our wedding party in different cabins. We couldn’t have cared less about the monsoon rains from Hurricane Patricia, because Rick and I were so excited to start our forever together (and we had AMAZING family, friends, and wedding vendors who helped us pull off our rainy day wedding). Nothing will ever compare to the moment of having my brother walk me down the aisle, and then turning to see Rick waiting for me with an umbrella in the rain. Also, getting married inside the chapel at 7f with just our wedding party, officiant, parents, and us was incredibly intimate and special. Rick and I really enjoyed having our parents stand next to us as we joined our lives and families in marriage. Rick and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day, and we could never say thank you enough to the family, friends, and wedding vendors who made it possible!
