Destination Bryan announces the Texas 4-H Roundup Kickoff Event at the Palace Theater in Downtown Bryan on Tuesday, June 8 starting at 5 p.m. The Texas 4-H Roundup will take place June 8-10 in Bryan-College Station and is a qualifying and invitational event for 4-H youth who placed in a district level roundup or signed up to compete in one of the invitational events. The Texas 4-H Roundup has around 50 diverse competitions that tie in with the many projects that 4-H has to offer.
Competing students and their families look forward to Roundup every June and travel to Bryan-College Station from counties all across Texas. Not only does the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program create lifelong memories for those involved, members gain leadership and problem solving skills that equip them to navigate any endeavor they may encounter.
The week-long competition will begin on Tuesday morning with contests being hosted on Texas A&M University campus followed by the Kickoff Event at the Palace Theater presented by Destination Bryan. The evening event will consist of an awards ceremony from that day’s competitions, live music, and other activities for the 4-H contestants and their families. An estimated 1,300 people will attend the evening festivities and will have a chance to explore the Downtown Bryan shops and restaurants prior to their awards ceremony.
“Just as everyone has had to adjust over the past year, 4-H Roundup has had to pivot from their traditional schedule.” said Morgan Key, Business Development Manager of Destination Bryan. “These students have remained optimistic during a tough time. With that in mind and this being the celebration of 75 years of Roundup, Destination Bryan wanted to create a legendary experience for 4-H Roundup. We are thrilled with the opportunity to host the Texas 4-H Roundup Kickoff Event in Downtown Bryan! We look forward to painting Bryan green to welcome 4-H!”
“While 2020-2021 proved to be a challenging year for the Texas 4-H Program and our members, we are looking forward to celebrating the successes of our 4-H members during our 75th Texas 4-H Roundup.” said Jana Barrett, Texas 4-H Roundup Coordinator. “The event may look a little different this year, but the celebration will be no less! We have over 1,300 high school age 4-H members plus their family members, county agents and coaches converging on Bryan/College Station next week. We are looking forward to the community rolling out the “green carpet” for our 4-H members.”
4-H Roundup will continue their contests through June 10 and will have awards ceremonies on June 9 at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater presented by Visit College Station and June 10 at the Agrilife Center on campus.
