Bryan ISD Closings/At-Home Learning

Bryan ISD Closings/At-Home Learning
Information provided by Bryan ISD
We have continued to monitor the weather and due to the rolling power outages, the below freezing temperatures and concerns with pipes at a few of our campuses, we are making some changes to our learning schedule for this week.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 16), Bryan ISD will be closed. This includes the cancellation of both on-campus and at-home instruction, and all extracurricular activities.  We made this decision due to the high number of rolling power outages expected to continue tomorrow that could make at-home learning difficult for our students and teachers.
Wednesday, February 17 through Friday, February 19, Bryan ISD will have at-home, asynchronous instruction only.  Here is what this means:
  • Students stay at home and do not come to the school building.
  • All students grades 5-12 should log into their Schoology account from home, and complete assignments.
  • Students PK-4 should complete assignments in their workbooks, or on Schoology, as directed by their teacher.
While the temperature is expected to remain below freezing through much of the week, the need for rolling power outages should lessen Wednesday through Friday. However, we need to drain the pipes at some of our campuses, and we will not be able to test them until the temperature rises above freezing.
We know that you may continue to lose power through the end of the week, or have other reasons related to the weather that prevent your child from logging on and completing assignments. All we ask is that you do the best you can.
Please use this time to continue learning with your children.  While you are home, we encourage your children to read books, practice math facts, complete previously assigned work, play games, puzzles or educational toys. Older children can work with or read to younger children.  We’d love for you to share how your children are learning during this big freeze.  If you post on social media, please tag Bryan ISD, or send ideas and pictures to info@bryanisd.org. Let’s get creative!
We also want to remind you that help is available during this difficult time. You can call 2-1-1 should you or your family need assistance.
Please stay safe and warm.
