“Glimpses of the Hummingbird” features artwork by Cynthia Castillo
Glimpses of the Hummingbird: Symbols and Traditions of Día De Los Muertos by Cynthia Castillo will be on display in the Arts Council of Brazos Valley’s Sue M. Lee Arts Corridor from October 22nd to December 18th, 2024.
Cynthia Castillo is a Texas native, but as an Army brat spent most of her child and young adult years in Alabama. Castillo is an artist, art educator, and art historian, while her interests range from studies of the beauty of nature, the mysteries of science, and even darker macabre subjects.
She is presently an IB Art Educator for Bryan ISD as well as an adjunct art professor for TAMIU, CTC, and Trident University. Castillo’s goals are to spread as much art and art knowledge to others as she can.
Castillo’s work centers around her love for color, nature, human anatomy, and her Mexican heritage. She finds that vivid color speaks the loudest to her and tries to incorporate them into her pieces, even in the most dark subject matter.
