Information courtesy of | The Arts Council of Brazos Valley
We are excited to announce that art scholarships for high school seniors in the Brazos Valley are now available! For over a decade, the Arts Council, with the generous support of local donors, has been dedicated to nurturing young artistic talents in our community. Through our scholarship program, we have had the privilege of awarding over $100,000 in scholarship funds to Brazos Valley High School seniors since 2010.
These scholarships provide vital support for students pursuing their dreams of a college degree and a career in the arts. We encourage all art degree-seeking graduates to apply, from visual art to culinary art – no art degree is excluded. There is one application available, with an area for the applicant to write in which scholarship they are applying for. There are three scholarships available to apply for:
Netta Jackson Simek Emerging Artist Scholarship
James Young Bradfield Fine Arts Scholarship
These scholarships represent our commitment to fostering creativity, celebrating art, and honoring those who have left a lasting legacy in our community. We invite all aspiring young artists to apply and continue the tradition of artistic excellence in the Brazos Valley.

The Arts Council is excited to call on artists to participate in our upcoming 5″ x 5″ fundraising exhibit. Set to be featured at our facility from January 9th to February 9th, we are calling on amateur and professional artists alike to reserve and pick up their free canvas now and participate in this great cause. Your artwork would serve as a donation to go toward the Arts Council’s Scholarship Program fund and be key to helping the next generation of artists succeed. Our scholarship program is open to all graduating high school seniors in the Brazos Valley pursuing a degree in the arts.
All amateur and professional artists are welcome and encouraged to create an original 5″ x 5″ work of art to be featured in this exhibition. All artwork submitted will be made available to the public for a $55 donation at the Art Council’s Annual Boots & BBQ event, with 100% of the donations from the 5″ x 5″ going towards the Scholarship Support Campaign. Boots & BBQ is an annual Arts Council event that raises money for Arts Council programs and will take place at the Arts Council on January 20th, 2024. Tickets to that event will be made available soon. In the meantime, follow the button below to reserve your 5″ x 5″ canvas and help us aid the community in making futures bright!
We provide the canvas! Pick yours up now!
We are here Monday-Friday 10a-6p and on Saturday 1p-4p.
