Mandatory information session will take place Sept. 6; application deadline is Oct. 6
The Blinn College District Vocational Nursing Program is now accepting applications for its inaugural spring cohort.
The traditional face-to-face program will begin Jan. 16 and students will graduate in December 2024. The program will continue to offer traditional and blended/online cohorts in the fall.
“We are excited to offer an additional start date that provides more opportunities for students,” said Dr. Michelle Marburger, Program Director.
A mandatory, 90-minute Zoom session at noon on Sept. 6 will provide valuable information for prospective students, including nursing career insights, Blinn’s admission criteria and requirements, required tests and immunizations, licensure eligibility, degree plans, and the application process for admission. More information and registration forms are available at blinn.edu/vocational-nursing/information.html.
The deadline for applications to the spring cohort is Oct. 6.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2021 annual median pay for a vocational nurse was $48,070, and employment is expected to increase 6% between 2021 and 2033, creating 43,300 new jobs nationwide.
Program graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) and the Nursing Jurisprudence Examination and are considered licensed vocational nurses after passing both exams.
