The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Brazos Valley invites the community to join the movement to honor and remember loved ones and fight back for lifesaving change on Saturday, April 6th from 4:00-9:30 pm at A&M Consolidated Middle School located at 105 Holik St. College Station, Texas . Relay For Life is a community of survivors, caregivers, local citizens, volunteers and participants who believe that the future can be free from cancer and own the power to make that change.
“We share a passion to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer,” said Cari Horn-Co-chair of Relay for Life of Brazos Valley. “In 2023, almost 1.9 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States. Thanks to that shared passion, the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society can’t be stopped, ensuring we are here for everyone who needs us.”
Relay For Life of Brazos Valley presented by The Donald and Donna Adams Family Foundation and Baylor Scott and White will begin our opening ceremony at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 6th . Our theme this year is Dr. Seuss-One Wish Two Wish You Wish We Wish for a Cure. Once we finish the opening ceremony our survivors and caregivers will lead us in a lap around the “track”. We will have a light meal for our survivors and caregivers starting at 5:00 pm. We will play a lifesize version of Battleship and Hungry, Hungry Hippos at 6:45. Teams will have on-site fundraisers and we will have a silent auction. We will be doing our Recognition Awards at 7:45 p.m.. We will award a variety of recognitions including Grand Club members, Top 5 Individuals and Top 5 Team Awards. We are asking the community to nominate a caregiver and survivor of the year. Nominations will be reviewed by Unified Event Staff from around the country to determine the winner. We will begin our Luminaria Ceremony at dusk at approximately 8:30. The luminaria ceremony allows us to honor our cancer warriors who have beaten cancer, support our current cancer warriors, and remember the cancer warriors we have lost.
For more than 35 years, Relay For Life has joined communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives from cancer. Dollars raised each year by over 500,000 Relay participants across the country help attack all cancers in countless ways – funding and conducting breakthrough research, providing education and advocating for the needs of cancer patients and their families, and providing essential services throughout their cancer journey.
“It has never been easier to raise money for Relay For Life and help fund the future. Every dollar raised fuels the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission. The fight against cancer needs you now more than ever.” –Amanda Godfrey, Co-Chair of Relay for Life of Brazos Valley.
