Blackwood Nature Camp is a week-long overnight camp for ages 8-14 located in Hempstead, TX. Our goal is simple; get kids outside and active! Campers enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming (swim test required), paddle-boarding, and forest games. They take classes like natural dyeing, cane-pole fishing, and cooking. They learn about wildlife in workshops
hosted by local experts. New this year we have paddle boarding and archery added to the roster of activities. At night, they stargaze, tell stories, and roast s’mores by the campfire.
Campers learn about nature, animals, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. With the support of highly trained counselors, they’ll explore the wilderness and discover what secrets and wisdom the forest has to tell. This life-changing week of adventure offers children the opportunity to build a relationship with nature and safely explore the great outdoors.

Our judging camps are specifically tailored to help 4-H and FFA members wanting to improve and learn more about livestock judging. Instructors will include current and former Blinn College livestock judging team members as well as Blinn College faculty and coaching staff.
Camp participants will get an up-close look at Blinn College-Brenham Campus and the W.J. Bill Rankin Agricultural Complex along with our new livestock handling facility. Each camp will focus on evaluation of breeding and market animals. There will be a greater concentration on reasons, cattle grading, and keep cull for our experienced camp. Our novice camp will emphasize the basics of judging, notetaking, questions, as well as an introduction to oral reasons.

Camps offer 5 days of concentrated curriculum, ranging from the various breakdowns of wildlife habitat & land management principles, to leadership, public speaking, and team-building. All camps provide various participant resources and materials, all field & classroom curriculum needs, as well as lodging, meals, and safety needs.

Thunder Elite offers summer camps beginning after Memorial day running through the beginning of the school year. We have two buses that we use to take field trips every day! Field trips include swimming, bowling, laser tag, putt putt, ice skating, trips to the park, snowcones, and more! Daily and weekly rates available.

We are two moms, Lindsey, who has successfully and lovingly run a home daycare for more than 20 years, and Maggie, who has been an educator and entrepreneur for over eight years. We believe that literacy is the foundation to one’s dreams and successes, and our goal is to give every child that enters our doors the magic of what reading can do in their lives. *Camps are M – F, 9 AM – 3 PM, lunch option available. Option to extend hours from 7:45 AM – 5:30 PM.

If you are like most of our parents you want your child to learn to play golf; It’s a sport they can play for a lifetime. The problem is golf is difficult to learn, it takes time to develop and kids like to do things that are fun. At Texas Team we got tired of seeing kids being taught like adults. So we developed a child centric program where your child will have fun and see progress right away.
