Blackwood Nature Camp is a week-long overnight camp for ages 8-14 located in Hempstead, TX. Our goal is simple: get kids outside and active! Campers enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming (swim test required), paddle-boarding, and forest games. They take classes like natural dyeing, cane-pole fishing, and cooking. They learn about wildlife in workshops hosted by local experts. New this year we have paddle boarding and archery added to the roster of activities. At night, they stargaze, tell stories, and roast s’mores by the campfire.
Campers learn about nature, animals, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. With the support of highly trained counselors, they’ll explore the wilderness and discover what secrets and wisdom the forest has to tell. This life-changing week of adventure offers children the opportunity to build a relationship with nature and safely explore the great outdoors.

Our judging camps are specifically tailored to help 4-H and FFA members wanting to improve and learn more about livestock judging. Instructors will include current and former Blinn College livestock judging team members as well as Blinn College faculty and coaching staff.
Camp participants will get an up-close look at Blinn College-Brenham Campus and the W.J. Bill Rankin Agricultural Complex along with our new livestock handling facility. Each camp will focus on evaluation of breeding and market animals. There will be a greater concentration on reasons, cattle grading, and keep cull for our experienced camp. Our novice camp will emphasize the basics of judging, notetaking, questions, as well as an introduction to oral reasons.

Participants will attend a classroom session and then have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with our lifeguards as well as shadow them to learn about response and providing care. For over 30 years, the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) has inspired millions of children through its flagship summer program, Camp Invention®. The week-long program is led by certified educators and teaches children in grades K-6 how to cultivate the mindset of an innovator.
Each year, our education team works together with NIHF Inductees to create a brand-new STEM curriculum that embraces hands-on learning. In our 2022 program, Explore, campers build confidence and work together to take on four exciting challenges, constructing their own inventions to solve real-world problems.

Young people are developing their dreams for the future at this age. At Summer Science Safari, we help students envision their futures. We pack as much science and learning into five days as we can, then top it off with lots of fun.

Skating classes are offered for all ages and skill levels from beginner to advanced, including gliding, balance, power, conditioning, and on and off-ice jump techniques (for advanced figure skaters).
Hockey classes combine off-ice drills and on-ice instruction, individual offensive and defensive skills, reactive offensive techniques, and game theory. Classes give students all the training they need to enhance their hockey and ice skating skills this summer!

The Veterinary Science Certificate Program (VSCP) provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a veterinary assistant (VA). The VSCP also provides a sound platform for students who wish to pursue an associate, undergraduate, or graduate degree in veterinary science. The program is available to high schools, 4-H programs, community colleges, homeschools, and to private individuals.

Texas Brigades hosts 8 leadership camps, founded on a variety of wildlife and natural resource principles.
