This Summer, Take A Stand, Be A Hero, And
Take Your Place As A Lifeguard ($12 An Hour!)

For many, summers are filled with swimming and spending sunny afternoons around the water. For the Parks and Recreation Department, it’s about ensuring our local pools are safe places for residents, visitors, and families to relax and have fun.
Unfortunately, water activities can be risky.
Children under four years old have the highest drowning rates, most occurring in swimming pools.
Another seven receive emergency care for non-fatal drowning for every child who dies from drowning. At Adamson Lagoon and Cindy Hallaran Pool, your kids’ safety is in our trained lifeguards’ capable hands.
The chance to help others – and maybe even save a life – leads many to become lifeguards. Some eventually even pursue aquatics as a profession. Other significant benefits are developing lifelong friendships and realizing you can genuinely make a difference.
In addition to watching over families at play, our lifeguards also give swimming lessons, teach safety classes, and coach youth swim teams. If you love teaching and swimming – and know your swim strokes – we encourage you to become a coach or instructor.
We’re hiring lifeguards for our pools, instructors for swim lessons, and coaches for the Tsunami Swim Team. Pay starts at $12 an hour, and you must be at least 16 years old.
If you’re not certified, American Red Cross certification programs are available. If you’re hired and work all summer at College Station pools, your certification costs are covered or reimbursed.
Lifeguarding is a fantastic opportunity to work outside, serve the public, and develop new friends. Are you ready to make a splash?
You might even save a life.
