In this 5-day summer camp, students will learn and perform songs from some of the most popular artists of the 21st century, including Foo Fighters, Amy Winehouse, Imagine Dragons, Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. Monday through Friday will be spent learning and rehearsing songs culminating in a live performance at the end of the week. Great for students 7-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

Located one hour northwest of Houston, Camp Allen offers week-long residential camp sessions for ages 8-18. Camp Allen is the largest Episcopal summer camp program in the nation and welcomes 2,000 campers annually. The heart of Camp Allen has been to love God and make Him known. Every day is jam-packed with activities, food, and good friends. Camper activities include: archery, canoeing, swimming, zip-lining, horseback riding, paddle-boarding, fishing, water slides, talent shows, dance nights, and adventure games. CLASS ACT is a dining, etiquette, and dance course that teaches essential social skills for young people. Camp sessions cover everything from basic manners and dining etiquette to cell phone courtesy and job skills. Students learn popular ballroom and swing dance skills. Ages 6-18 are invited to enroll. Campers will learn the music of 60s and 70s rock icons such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones at Classic Rock Rewind summer camp. In addition to songs, students will learn about rock history and the stagecraft needed to perform on a stage. At the end of the week, students will put on a live performance. This camp is great for students 7-18 years of age who have had some previous instruction.

All summer long the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley will be hosting themed camps for kids ages 4 and older. The Museum has eight fun-filled camps lined up for the summer:
June 15-19: Illuminate and Fabricate: a Maker Camp— the sky’s the limit for this camp! Get your child’s creative juices flowing at this fun crafting camp.
June 22-26: Gasses, Goo, and Geodes— This one is for the “glad” scientist. Campers will explore different states of matter, learn what makes the earth so fascinating…and make a mess!
June 29-July 3: Time Traveler’s Camp— You don’t need a fancy machine to visit past decades (and even centuries!). Campers will explore different time periods with games, facts, food, and fun!
July 6-10: Launch Pad Young Entrepreneurs Camp— This is the 3rd annual installment of Entrepreneur camp. Your little visionary will start with an idea and guest entrepreneurs will visit throughout the week to coach them and help make it a reality, all culminating in a showcase for families, friends, and the community!
July 13-17: Under the Sea Camp—TAMU Oceanography Department is back for the second summer in a row. Come spend the week with different experts exploring marine science and marine life, some right here in Texas!
July 20-24: Fairy Tale Theatre — This camp will bring Broadway to Bryan! Campers will learn all the elements of putting on a show from sets, costumes, props, and of course, acting. Your budding Thespian will get a chance to be part of a short performance at the end of the week!
July 27-31: Artful Wonders Camp — Campers will spend the week with the fun staff at the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley creating masterpieces.
August 3-7: Every Day’s a Holiday at CMBV! Camp— Why celebrate just once a year? This week campers will explore how different cultures observe special holidays, as well as revisit some American favorites, including the famous Noon Year’s Eve balloon drop!
August 10-14: “Dab, Floss, Jump, and Jiggle”— It’s the end of the summer and everyone needs a little “wiggle room.” Come spend a fun, active week with local dancers and sports teams. Campers will shake those sillies out just in time for the start of the school year.

BRAND NEW FOR 2020! The uke is a really COOL instrument. It has been made popular, again, by folks like Taylor Swift and Zac Efron. After learning just a few chords, many songs can be played on the ukulele, making ukes really enjoyable. The uke is a stepping stone to other string instruments; and really, all instruments, since in class we play chords and train our ear with playing in tune and listening. We are using a curriculum that is very accessible to young children and will set them up for success, which in turn leads to confidence building and the love of music. In this project-oriented course students will be guided through the various stages of creating a four-page comic, including: script writing, character design, thumb nailing, penciling, inking, page structure, panel composition, and storytelling. There will be a focus on creating believable environments in your artwork, through detailed instruction on perspective and props as well as an introduction to basic perspective and comic book anatomy. Campers will also utilize these same techniques in creating a superhero “self-portrait”, developing 2D stop-motion animation “puppets”, designing backgrounds, and the filming of a short stop-motion animated film using the student’s own uniquely original characters. In the morning writing workshop, students will go through the writing process to craft poems or short stories. Campers will have creative license coupled with guidance from a local English teacher to create original written works of art. They will create illustrations for their written works in the afternoon with a professional artist/art educator. All of their creations will be compiled into a keepsake hand-bound book. The week will end with a field trip to the Carnegie Library for a lesson on preservation and for an opportunity to make his/her own book box.
