For two decades, the Starlight Music Series has attracted music lovers for free, family-friendly entertainment under the stars at the beautiful Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater.
That tradition continues in 2022 with five Saturday concerts featuring classic rock, country, Tejano, and zydeco artists.
The first event is on April 23, followed by shows on May 7, May 21, June 4, and June 18. Families, friends, and visitors can bring picnic baskets, coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs for five nights of outdoor rockin’ fun.
The gates always open at 6 p.m., followed by the shows at 7. Free parking is available at Post Oak Mall, with handicap parking near Colgate Drive. Sorry, but pets are not allowed.
Here’s the lineup:
SATURDAY, APRIL 23
Max Stalling with guests Reagan Quinn and Brazos Authority
Texas singer-songwriter Max Stallings began playing the guitar as a graduate student at Texas A&M (whoop). He writes country tunes that connect by forming snapshots of his life by blending traditional country, folk, and Western swing with touches of classic rock, R&B, and jazz.
SATURDAY, MAY 7
Queen Nation with guests The Nomads and Kane Alvarado
Queen Nation is a visual and musical tribute to Queen. The group’s image, sound, and stage persona strive to recreate the aura of the legendary originals. Queen fans are enthralled by the live performance of classics such as We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, and more.
SATURDAY, MAY 21
Changes with guests Gary-Michael Dahl Band and Brazos Valley Jazz Society
Changes is a musical tribute to one of rock’s most popular and enduring bands, Chicago. The band is loaded with talented musicians that have played together for more than 20 years. The bright and powerful horn section and authentic vocals recreate Chicago’s classic era.
SATURDAY, JUNE 4
Sunny Sauceda and Karla Perez as Selena The Show with guest Mariachi Sanchez
Sunny Sauceda is a two-time Grammy Award-winning Tejano artist from San Antonio who is regarded as the world’s most energetic accordion player. His peerless playing abilities often overshadow his sultry but powerful modern voice.
No one captures the sound, style, looks, and complete essence of Selena like Karla Perez and her band. Perez has proven why she is regarded as the top-rated Selena Quintanilla tribute artist in the United States and Mexico.
SATURDAY, JUNE 18
Lil’ Nathan & The Zydeco Big Timers with guests Mi’Chel Rose and On Another Note
Lil’ Nate’s unique sound, broad experience, and magnetizing stage presence are rooted in his childhood. At the tender age of five, he was introduced to rhythmic, southern Louisiana zydeco music, playing rubboard in his father’s band, the legendary “Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas.” The group captures the potency and eclecticism of the zydeco genre and makes you want to dance.
