Immerse your children in the wonders of the great outdoors through exciting and enriching fall programs at the Gary Halter Nature Center.
From exploring the natural world and fostering mindfulness to igniting curiosity through hands-on experiments, our outdoor programs promise to spark a connection with the environment while creating lasting memories for children and their caretakers.

Nature Movement & Meditation
Children ages 9-17 are invited to Nature Movement & Meditation on Tuesdays from Sept. 5-Dec. 12. Ages 9-12 will meet from 4-5 p.m. and ages 13-17 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The class provides a delightful approach to educating young people about health by exploring the natural world.
Participants learn relaxing and flowing movements inspired by nature, while the instructor teaches mindfulness techniques through movements to help young people express joy and happiness. The cost is $10 per class; registration is required by class day. Feel free to sign up for one class or multiple sessions. We won’t have class on Oct. 31.
Wild Walks in The Park
Children ages 3-6 and their caretakers are invited to Wild Walks in the Park on Wednesdays from Sept. 20-Nov. 8. Stroll through the park, engage in educational activities, read stories, and enjoy unstructured playtime in nature from 9-10 a.m. We’ll explore topics such as plants, clouds, rocks, energy, animals, fish, bug identification, and more.
It’s a perfect way to connect with other families as you revel in the outdoors. Dress for the outdoors and wear closed-toed shoes. The cost is $30 per child and their caretaker, and registration ends on Sept. 20. Spots are limited.
Outdoor Experiments
Children ages 7-12 and their caretakers are invited to discover nature in an enriching hands-on environment on Wednesdays from Sept. 20-Nov. 8. We’ll explore a new topic each week through experiments and exploration from 11 a.m.-noon. Topics include plant identification, water cycle, geology, renewable energy sources, animals, insects, fish, ecosystems, and more.
Dress for the outdoors and wear closed-toed shoes. The cost is $30 per child and their caretaker, and registration ends on Sept. 20. Spots are limited.
After-School Nature Hour
Children ages 7-12 and their caretakers are invited to After-School Nature Hour on Thursdays from Sept. 21-Nov. 9. Explore the park and hiking trails, make observations, engage in educational activities, and enjoy unstructured playtime from 4-5 p.m. Topics include forces of nature, birds, plants, bugs, bats, monarchs, footprints, and more.
It’s an ideal way to enjoy the outdoors while making new friends after a long school day. Dress for the outdoors and wear closed-toed shoes. The cost is $30 per child and caretaker, and registration ends on Sept. 21. Spots are limited.
