Christmas In The Park Delights Community Again
Information Courtesy of College Station Parks & Recreation
As Santa heads back to the North Pole to prepare for his Christmas Eve deliveries, the Parks and Recreation staff clean up, repair lights, and pick up remnants of the good times left behind after the Christmas in the Park event weekend.
We enjoyed watching families revel under the giant Christmas tree and delight in the festive light displays and activities. Everyone seemed to have a positive response, and the shuttles from Post Oak Mall made the short trip to Stephen C. Beachy Park seamless.
More than 10,000 guests savored the holiday sights and sounds during the two days of celebration.

Since it began in 1984, Christmas in the Park has evolved from a small light display into a beloved community tradition. We’ve added a few items since — such as real reindeer and snow slides — but it remains essentially the same program at heart. We strive to handcraft our light displays with the same loving care and spirit of the great Christmas in the Park teams of the past.
Here’s a glimpse at the impressive numbers from the event days (Dec. 3-4):
• 4,000 Kool-Aid Jammers served.
• 9,750 cookies devoured.
• 7,664 wristbands given away.
• 5,401 people rode the shuttle.
• 60,000 pounds of ice used for snow slides.
• 4,500 Holiday Parks Pals adopted.
• 139 volunteers put in 650 hours of their time.
• 1 million+ Christmas lights displayed.
The organized activities are complete, but the beautiful lights remain on display from 6-11 p.m. each night through New Year’s Day. Tune in to Christmas 97.3 FM to enjoy Christmas music provided by Bryan Broadcasting as you drive through.
We offer a special thanks to our sponsors: Brazos Valley Marine Corps League, College Station Noon Lions Club, Christmas 97.3, Bryan Broadcasting, and HEB.
