Since March we have seen much-deserved appreciation go to first responders, nurses, doctors, and health care workers. They deserve all of the recognition and support we can give them. But, there is another group of frontline workers we also need to recognize, our teachers. They pivoted as necessary throughout the spring to educate students virtually, and since August 20 they’ve gone above and beyond to keep children educated and engaged.
.
With this in mind, the week of September 28 will be a special teacher appreciation week in Bryan ISD. Superintendent Dr. Christie Whitbeck would like this to be a community-wide celebration of Bryan ISD teachers, but this can only happen with community support.
Here are some things you can do:
.
-
Thank a teacher on social media using #ThankABryanISDTeacher. Tell a great story about how a teacher impacted your child, record a video of thanks with your child that you post and also share with the teacher, or post a great picture. The more we #ThankABryanISDTeacher the better.
-
Write a note of thanks. There’s nothing better than a handwritten letter. You can drop it off at school or mail the letter to the school. If you don’t feel like writing, you can send an email, too. A positive, uplifting email can really brighten a teacher’s day.
-
Bring a teacher a gift. A small gift card, flowers, treats, an apple, you get the idea. It doesn’t need to be expensive. A little something thoughtful brought to school can make a huge difference.
-
Simply say thanks. If you see a teacher on Zoom, or in the grocery store, take a minute to say thank you. That small thank you will go a long way.
Thank you for supporting Bryan ISD, and helping the district celebrate teachers the week of September 28, and beyond. Together, we can shower teachers with appreciation as we #ThankABryanISDTeacher.
