Visit the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum in College Station to see the highly anticipated Music America exhibit! Since America’s founding, music has run through the veins of our country. Experience the story of how music has inspired our national identity as you journey through iconic objects spanning decades of American music. Celebrate our nation’s rich musical heritage and explore how music has influenced our culture over the last 250 years.
Music America features artifacts from artists spanning genres and generations, with contributions from the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music’s permanent collection, the New Orleans Jazz Museum, Hard Rock International, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as dozens of prominent collectors of American music ephemera. This exhibit features legendary objects from artists such as Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke, Chuck D, Woody Guthrie, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Tupac Shakur, and more. Music America will be open through January 5, 2026, in the Ansary Gallery of American History.

Musical Diplomacy: Instruments from the Vault opens July 14, 2025, and will be on exhibit through March 1, 2026, in the Fidelity Gallery. The exhibit explores President Bush’s role in sharing musical culture with the American people. This gallery display features 15 unique artifacts, each with a special story highlighting music’s important role in building our cultural heritage. Through artifacts, historical photography, and audiovisual footage, Musical Diplomacy will show visitors important performances and special moments in the White House’s long history with music.
As the weather warms up into the summer, we welcome you and your family to the Bush Library for a summer full of exciting events! We are happy to reintroduce our Summer Film Series! On June 13, 101 Dalmatians will be shown in celebration of President Bush’s 101st birthday! Music themed films The Greatest Showman (August 22) and Sing (September 12) will be shown in conjunction with the Music America exhibit. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs as we enjoy the films under the stars. Games and free refreshments will begin at 7 p.m., and the movie will start just after sundown. You may bring your coolers, but please no pets or glass containers.

In June, we recognize the birthdays of both President and Mrs. Bush. President Bush’s 101st birthday is June 12, and Mrs. Bush’s 100th birthday is June 8. Visitors are invited to the Bush Birthday Celebration on June 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join in festivities that will include free birthday cake, popcorn, and refreshments in the rotunda. Guests are encouraged to don their crazy socks and pearls as we celebrate the lives and legacies of President and Mrs. Bush. There is no cost to participate in the festivities in the rotunda, but regular museum admission will apply.

Join us Friday, June 20 for our Juneteenth Celebration – The Sounds of Freedom and experience a day filled with inspiration, storytelling, and community!
Kick off with sounds and stories from legendary Mrs. Toni Simmons, then join a special roundtable discussion with Texas icon DJ Michael “5000” Watts and singer/rapper Kyle Marty as they share their journeys in the music industry. Don’t miss Kyle Marty’s live performance to close the event!
Afterward, stay for a delicious barbecue and enjoy good food and great company. Come celebrate freedom and culture with us. Your presence makes the day even more special!
Celebrate Independence Day with us! We’ll have free museum admission all day with special family-friendly activities and refreshments from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Become a Volunteer! We have opportunities for everyone ages 12 and above! Our volunteers reflect the love of country and service to others that President and Mrs. Bush encouraged in everyone. We depend on our volunteers’ valuable time and talents to welcome visitors, school groups, and researchers to our institution, as well as work behind the scenes on various projects.If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer at the Bush Library & Museum, contact our volunteer coordinator at Bush.volunteers@nara.gov.
The Bush Library & Museum is also seeking motivated students ages 13-18 to join our Junior Docent Program! This exciting opportunity allows young individuals to engage with history, enhance their leadership skills, and share their passion for learning with visitors.
